Founded in California in 1986, Exoto — short for EXclusive AUTOmobiles — was built around a single, uncompromising idea: the best or nothing. While most manufacturers were producing mass-market replicas, Exoto was doing something entirely different. They were treating scale model making as an art form — obsessing over historical accuracy, period-correct liveries, and engineering detail that collectors had simply never seen before at 1/18 scale.
The results speak for themselves. Exoto's Racing Legends series features over 160 precision-scaled parts per model, including fully functioning steering, individually cast exhaust headers, accurate wiring and plumbing, photo-etched components, and rubber-like tires with genuine tread patterns. These aren't display pieces that look good from across the room. They're the kind of models you pick up and turn in your hands for twenty minutes.

Exoto's 1/18 renditions of the 934 RSR are widely regarded as the definitive scale representations of this car. Period-correct liveries, accurate cockpit details, proper body panel gaps — everything a serious Porsche collector expects, and then some. Why Exoto Is Rare and Only Getting Rarer
Exoto has never been a high-volume manufacturer. Production runs are limited, models go out of print, and they rarely come back. The brand went through a quiet period that had collectors wondering if it was gone for good — which only drove up demand for existing pieces on the secondary market.
